NHS Providers

NHS Providers is the membership organisation for NHS foundation trusts and trusts in England. Having a distinctive place in the health sector it provides the voice for NHS public providers, led by its members.

A lease expiry provided NHSP the opportunity to review their accommodation. Having grown 100% in 2 years, their offices in Birdcage Walk, although historically impressive, were not fit for purpose. A warren of offices, narrow corridors and outdated M&E, together with the need to create a more collaborative and cohesive culture warranted a newer, modern premises.
As an NHS funded organisation, naturally, this project was subject to a very tight budget. Baker Stuart helped to define NHSP needs by undertaking a property and people review to enable a search for the right property at the right size, cost, location with the right design.
From design, fit out project management through to moving in, Baker Stuart provided a seamless project management service that enabled the client sponsorship team to continue operationally.
We helped NHS Providers to save costs by upcycling furniture, implementing a hybrid working strategy and change management process that reduced the need for so much space and managed the procurement process to ensure value for money.

Our initial discovery included a 2-hour Vision Session with the Senior Leadership team, staff workshops & interviews.

Baker Stuart undertook a property search, and the client was faced with two options. A 3,500sqft office space on the 6th floor and a 4,500sft space on the 5th floor.

Based on the workplace study and several iterations of test fit space plans, it was advised that the smaller, 6th floor was selected. Once the decision to take the 6th floor had been made, Baker Stuart developed the test fits further in collaboration with the client sponsorship group and change champions team.

A model for agile working was developed to suit the way the organisation wanted to work. A curved, organic pathway mimicking the organization’s logo helped to form the flow throughout the floor, breaking up a very linear and geometric space.

A new way of working to support both the organisation and staff.

By providing flexibility and focusing on staff wellbeing this encourages collaboration and interaction.

Creating an inspiring workplace and promoting positive change.
