The pandemic promised us a new normal of work. Work from anywhere, anytime, anyplace. But have we seen the end to flexible working as we know it? Company’s like Amazon, Boots, HSBC, and Manchester United have begun to signal a Return to Office (RTO) mandate of 5 days a week. The aim of this paper is to critically analyse the rationale proposed by companies like Amazon and Manchester United FC and highlight key pillars in the change process that are crucial to the re-introduction of full-time office work.
